Do I Have Ptosis, and What Can I Do About It?

When you look in the mirror, do your eyelids appear to droop down over the eyes themselves? If the answer is yes, you may have ptosis.

What is Ptosis?

Ptosis is a condition that affects the upper eyelid,  and it occurs when the eyelid margin hangs down and obstructs part of the eye. It isn’t the skin that hangs over. It’s a droopy lid. While ptosis isn’t dangerous, many people want to eliminate it for aesthetic purposes, given that drooping eyelids can create an aging or continuously exhausted appearance. Additionally, in the most severe cases, ptosis may even block part of your field of vision.  (more…)

Tightening Saggy Skin Without Surgery

Is saggy skin giving you an aged appearance? Fear not! You do not need to undergo surgery to solve this common cosmetic concern. At Florida Face and Body, we offer multiple non-invasive treatments that can tighten loose skin and provide you with a rejuvenated look.

What Causes Saggy Skin?

The most common cause of saggy skin is the natural aging process. As people age, collagen and elastin within the skin begin to break down. Collagen and elastin are both proteins that give the skin its strength and plumpness, and with age, it can lead to saggy, less resilient skin.  (more…)

How IPL Can Minimize the Appearance of Scars

Oftentimes, topical creams and serums that claim to treat scarring fail to provide noticeable results in a reasonable time frame. If you have scarring that won’t respond to topical treatments, IPL therapy could give you the clear, even complexion that you desire. This non-invasive treatment can safely and dramatically improve the appearance of scarring and hyperpigmentation.

How Does IPL Work?

IPL, or intense pulsed light, is a treatment that uses specific light wavelengths to target skin concerns. This is ideal for patients struggling with scarring, acne, age spots, and hyperpigmentation. The treatment works by damaging the scarred, pigmented skin in a precise and controlled manner. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing process.  (more…)

How Much Filler Is Too Much?

Facial and lip fillers are popular injectable treatments that help patients reach their cosmetic goals! Fillers add volume to the face or lips to offset signs of aging and improve the proportions of the face. Effective and minimally-invasive, facial fillers can significantly enhance your appearance without the need for plastic surgery.

That being said, the amount of filler administered in treatment is crucial. If too much filler is injected, it can migrate to other areas of the face and create a puffy appearance. Here, we’ll discuss the risks of overdoing fillers so that you can use this injectable treatment to your advantage.  (more…)

Transition Your Skincare Routine from Summer to Fall

As the season transitions from summer to fall, so should your skincare routine. While the steps of your regimen should largely remain the same, altering the products that you use can ensure that your skin remains protected and hydrated in the fall and winter. Here, we’ll discuss how you can take care of your skin this fall for a beautiful, glowing visage.

Opt for a Heftier Moisturizer

Hot and sweaty summer days call for light moisturizers. However, in the fall, dropping humidity levels and rising winds can dry your skin out. So, swapping out your light summer moisturizer for a thicker, more nourishing product in the fall is a wise choice. Look for ingredients including hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides, all of which offer powerful and lasting hydration! (more…)
